SFO investigates alleged fraud by driver test officers

The Critical Fraud Workplace (SFO) has begun assessing allegations of bribery involving driver testing officers at Car Testing New Zealand’s Highbrook department in east Auckland.

The investigation comes after studies that workers allegedly accepted money funds to fraudulently cross sensible driver licence checks.

VTNZ confirms the matter was initially referred to police, whereas NZ Transport Company Waka Kotahi (NZTA) says 5 driver testing officers are underneath investigation and 322 licences issued by the group are being re-examined.

Police case filed as SFO takes the lead
