Germany is sending troopers to strengthen Poland’s japanese border with Belarus and Russia, a number of media reported on Saturday.
A number of dozen German troopers will be a part of Poland’s East Defend from April 2026, with the mission initially working till the tip of 2027, Deutsche Welle reported, citing Berlin’s protection ministry.
German troops will give attention to engineering work, in line with a ministry spokesperson quoted within the report. The spokesperson described this as constructing positions, digging trenches, laying barbed wire and developing anti-tank obstacles.
The East Defend is a €2.3 billion program introduced by Warsaw final 12 months to bolster safety alongside its japanese border.
