Putin says ‘understandings’ reached at Alaska summit open way to peace in Ukraine

(Reuters) -Russian President Vladimir Putin stated on Monday that “understandings” he reached with U.S. President Donald Trump at a summit in August opened a strategy to peace in Ukraine, which he would talk about with leaders attending a regional summit in China.

Kyiv and its Western allies name Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, launched in February 2022 an imperial warfare of conquest to annex territory, although Russia says it’s particular navy operation aimed to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine.

Putin, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and leaders from Central Asia, the Center East, South Asia and Southeast Asia are attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation discussion board within the metropolis of Tianjin, hosted by President Xi Jinping.

“We extremely admire the efforts and proposals from China and India aimed toward facilitating the decision of the Ukrainian disaster,” Putin advised the discussion board.

“The understandings reached on the latest Russia–U.S. assembly in Alaska, I hope, additionally contribute towards this objective.”

He stated he had already detailed to Xi on Sunday the achievements of his talks with Trump and the work “already underway” to resolve the battle and would supply extra element in two-way conferences with the Chinese language chief and others.

“For the Ukrainian settlement to be sustainable and long-term, the basis causes of the disaster should be addressed.”

A part of the supply of the battle “lies within the ongoing makes an attempt by the West to convey Ukraine into NATO”, Putin reiterated.
