The Waitaki district’s latest New Zealand residents have been welcomed at a ceremony on the Oamaru Opera Home.

Twenty-three new residents from various backgrounds, together with Czechia, India and Egypt, had been sworn in.

Waitaki District Mayor Mel Tavendale mentioned it was “an necessary and particular” a part of her function to formally acknowledge those that had chosen to make New Zealand their dwelling.

“Our district is rising, and diversifying, and it’s because of individuals selecting Waitaki as a spot to lift their households,” she mentioned.

Mrs Tavendale was joined by Councillors Dan Lewis, Sven Thelning, Jim Hopkins and John McCone to current citizenship certificates to the brand new residents from 12 totally different international locations.

Lisona, Mosiana and Fakaanaua Ki Pulotu Teu (Tonga), Paea He Lotu Asi (Tonga), Ceremony Ase Adrienne Barrie (Sweden), Matthew William Barrie (England), Timothy James Buscall (England), Judith Ansbacher (Scotland), Loesi Vaaia (Tuvalu), Ismaeel Ahemn Salah Eldin Elsaka and Abdurahman Ahmed Salaheldin Elsaka (Eire), Nesriun Alieldin Mohammed Nour Eldin Attia (Egypt), Maikale Romsemary Fifita and Tevita Fifita (Tonga), Emily Chen (China), Michaele Vokralova (Czechia) and Bradley Wheeler (Zimbabwe).
