At round 3.15pm on Monday, Police have been alerted to a person in want of help within the water close to Tutaritari Highway.
One helicopter, one ambulance and a primary response unit was dispatched to the scene.
The person was positioned within the water and was taken ashore in a vital situation.
Regardless of greatest efforts by emergency providers, the person died on the scene.
Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
Surf Life Saving New Zealand confirmed its groups tried to save lots of the person and the Sizzling Water Seaside Search and Rescue squad and lifeguards from the paid lifeguard service responded.
A spokesperson for Surf Lifesaving stated the person was discovered face down within the water unresponsive.
The person was taken to shore however couldn’t be resuscitated, the spokesperson stated.
The drowning had occurred at an unpatrolled seaside, the spokesperson stated, with the closest surf lifeguards 8km away.
