He’s the final man standing, so he has loads to rejoice.
Kool & The Gang’s final surviving unique member, Robert “Kool” Bell, took over the Lobster Membership in New York on Wednesday evening to rejoice his 75 years across the solar.
His sister-in-law and supervisor, Tia Sinclair, hosted the occasion – and the theme of his birthday bash was, “Kool 75: ‘Love the Life You Stay,’” a nod to the soul and funk band’s 1972 hit.
The celebration kicked off at round 6:30p.m. with visitors getting into the swanky Midtown restaurant to see waiters serving Bell’s Le Kool champagne.
Jazz bandSanti Debriano Trio carried out throughout the cocktail hour.
One partygoer described their set as “a wink to Kool & the Gang’s jazzy beginnings!”
Comic and “In Residing Shade” alum Tommy Davidson hopped on stage to toast the visitor of honor.
After he carried out a “hilarious” comedy routine, Bell’s favourite singer, R&B crooner Kem, shocked him with a 45-minute interactive set throughout which he introduced up songstress Chante Moore to belt out a quantity.
Kem received the viewers concerned, singing songs as they sat on couches across the stage.
“It was like having your entire finest pals, colleagues, and household having a singalong with Kem. It was magical and Kool was blown away,” one other partygoer shared.
Rapper Taste Flav even hopped onstage and “paid a really loving tribute” to Bell, we’re instructed.
Valerie Simpson, Thomas McClary, SiriusXM’s Dion Summers and BJ Stone, Stephen Hill, Invoice Perkins and Warner Chappell Music CEO Carianne Marshall have been a number of of the VIPs to attend.
“Deceitful Lies” star and spouse of late Kool & the Gang co-founder, Dennis “Dee Tee” Thomas, Penwah described the vitality within the room as “pure love.”
