The Directorate Common of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Friday eased a key crew-duty requirement as IndiGo’s operational disaster continued to disrupt air journey nationwide, resulting in hundreds of flight cancellations and widespread delays.
In an official order, the regulator stated it was quickly withdrawing the rule that barred airways from substituting weekly relaxation with gathered depart, a restriction that had sophisticated crew rostering throughout the ongoing crunch.
“In view of the continued operational disruptions and representations obtained from numerous airways concerning the necessity to guarantee continuity and stability of operations… the instruction contained within the referenced paragraph that no depart shall be substituted for weekly relaxation is hereby withdrawn with fast impact,” the DGCA stated.
