Passenger allegedly assaults Alaska Airlines crew members, forces emergency landing at Boise Airport

A 61-year-old girl was arrested Tuesday after allegedly attacking no less than one Alaska Airways crew member on a flight from Portland, Oregon, to Dallas, prompting an emergency touchdown at Boise Airport in Idaho.

Tracy Barkhimer, 61, of White Salmon, Washington, is charged with two counts of misdemeanor battery, in accordance with the Boise Police Division.

In the course of the flight, police stated Barkhimer was exhibiting “erratic habits” and allegedly struck two airline staff who have been trying to calm her down.

Barkhimer was restrained, and the flight was diverted to Boise Airport.

Simply earlier than 1:30 a.m., officers within the airport division have been notified concerning the emergency touchdown and met with two victims who requested and signed affidavits for the citizen’s arrest, in accordance with police.

Following an investigation, Barkhimer was faraway from the aircraft with out incident, taken into custody and booked into the Ada County Jail, officers stated.

Following a medical analysis, Alaska Airways stated its crew was cleared to fly, and the plane continued on after a 90-minute delay.

Alaska Airways informed Fox Information Digital that solely one in every of its flight attendants was assaulted, although police information point out there have been two victims.

Barkhimer was banned from flying on the airline sooner or later, a spokesperson stated.

“At Alaska Airways, security is our primary precedence, and we don’t tolerate violence of any variety in opposition to our staff,” Alaska Airways wrote in an announcement. “We’re grateful to our crew for his or her professionalism, and we apologize for any concern or inconvenience this example triggered.
