Santa Monica man arrested on suspicion of kidnapping 2 UCLA students, raping another woman

The UCLA Police Division has arrested a Santa Monica man on suspicion of kidnapping of two feminine UCLA college students and, in a separate incident, raping a lady unaffiliated with the college.

Officers arrested Alexander Schecter, 24, at his Santa Monica residence on Friday and booked him on one rely of rape by pressure, one rely of forcible oral copulation, one rely of theft, one rely of extortion and one rely of battery, police mentioned. He isn’t believed to be affiliated with the college, and his case shall be offered to the L.A. County district legal professional’s workplace for submitting consideration.

Schecter was launched on bond Saturday and is due again in court docket on April 15, based on the L.A. County Sheriff’s Division inmate info middle. Detectives started investigating Schecter after two feminine college students reported {that a} man prevented them from exiting his car and threatened violence after they have been being dropped off close to campus round 3 a.m. on March 8.

Detectives recognized Schecter because the suspect within the incident and initially arrested him on March 12. He was booked on suspicion of kidnapping and false imprisonment and later posted bail and was launched.

Throughout their investigation, detectives uncovered proof linking Schecter to a beforehand unreported sexual assault involving a separate feminine sufferer. That assault occurred on Oct. 12, 2025, between 2 and 5 a.m. within the space of Venice Boulevard and Clarington Avenue on the border of Palms and Culver Metropolis, police mentioned.

The UCLA Police Division confirmed the main points of the assault and developed possible trigger to arrest Schecter for a second time on further costs on Friday.
