Indonesia names Nadiem Makarim a suspect in laptop procurement corruption case

Indonesia’s Lawyer Basic’s Workplace (AGO) has named former Gojek CEO Nadiem Makarim a suspect within the laptop computer procurement corruption case that occurred throughout his time as Minister of Schooling, Tradition, Analysis, and Expertise.

In response to native media reviews, Makarim was declared a suspect after the AGO questioned 120 witnesses and 4 skilled witnesses.

He will probably be detained in Salemba, Central Jakarta, for 20 days.

Beforehand, the AGO declared 4 people suspects within the laptop computer procurement case, which has reportedly value the state near IDR2 trillion (US$121 million).

The case started in 2019, earlier than Makarim was formally appointed minister in President Joko Widodo’s administration. It began with the creation of a WhatsApp group known as “Mas Menteri Core Group” (“Brother Minister’s Core Group”) that features Makarim, Jurist Tan, and Fiona Handayani.
