John Beam, the Laney Faculty athletic director featured on Netflix‘s Final Probability U, was shot on Thursday afternoon.
As of Thursday night, a manhunt was underway for the person who shot Beam close to the Oakland, California neighborhood faculty’s soccer discipline, hospitalizing Beam in vital situation and sending the college into lockdown.
Oakland PD’s Assistant Chief James Beere stated a search was underway for a person of unknown ethnicity, wore all darkish clothes and a black hoodie, in keeping with a press convention shared by ABC Information.
Native affiliate ABC7 reported that the lockdown was lifted at 1:15pm after police decided there was now not an energetic shooter scenario. Lessons will resume Friday.
“A senior member of our athletic workers was shot on campus within the Laney Discipline Home,” the college shared in an announcement to a number of shops. “The person was instantly transported to an area hospital, and we’re holding them—and their family members—in our hearts throughout this extremely tough time. Out of respect for his or her privateness, we’re not releasing their identify at this second.”
Featured together with his staff on the fifth and last season of Final Probability U in 2020, Beam has served as Laney Faculty’s director of athletics since 2006, and head soccer coach since 2012.
