In October 2024, pro-Palestinian activists marched on Columbia College’s campus, on New York’s Higher West Facet, chanting "Resistance is superb! We will probably be victorious!" They held up indicators that learn "LONG LIVE THE AL-AQSA FLOOD," commemorating Hamas’s murderous assault on southern Israel on Oct. 7. One among my professors, struggling to make herself heard over the cacophony, advised us that college students had been emailing her, telling her that they didn’t really feel protected and can be absent. One other professor advised us that we would be welcome to go away for "private causes."
