Bookarama organisers open new chapter

East Auckland’s largest annual neighborhood guide sale is across the nook and it’s had some main adjustments that members must find out about.

The Rotary Membership of Howick organises the favored five-day Bookarama sale every year.

It’s on from October 1-5 and offers folks an opportunity to dump their good-condition pre-loved books, puzzles, video games, DVDs, CDs, and LPs, that are then sorted and bought, with the proceeds going to native charitable causes.

The primary massive change to this 12 months’s sale is it’s being held on the Howick School gymnasium as an alternative of at Somerville Intermediate College.

And the second change is to the system for folks to register in the event that they’re eager to get in earlier than the frenzy.

“We’ve got early-bird registrations, which prices $40, and other people can do this on-line at www.bookarama.co.nz,” Howick Rotary Membership president Rob Mouncey says.

“In the event that they need to be early-birds and are available early, it’s on the Wednesday afternoon from 12pm to 6pm.

“They’ll be with different sellers and other people like that from throughout New Zealand.

“They’ve bought to make a donation of $40.

“Or they’ll simply arrive on the day, on Wednesday afternoon, and purchase a token, which prices $40.”

Public entry to the sale is free exterior the early-bird timeframe.

Among the many key folks concerned are PlaceMakers Pakuranga supervisor Sue Kahukore and her selfless crew.

Her retailer donates its house for the storing and sorting of things to be bought.

“We assist to trailer all the pieces to the college to take a little bit of strain off the prices of freight and issues like that,” Kahukore says.

“We put all of the donated objects into our backroom to maintain all of it dry and protected till they’re able to take it.

Mouncey says Howick Rotary is grateful to the assist of PlaceMakers Pakuranga for its help with the occasion.
