Boston to pay $150K to 2 Black males wrongfully accused

Town of Boston, Massachusetts, is paying $150,000 to 2 Black males who had been wrongfully accused of the homicide of a pregnant white lady, a criminal offense later decided to have been dedicated by her husband.

On Sept. 23, metropolis officers authorised a $150,000 settlement for Alan Swanson and Willie Bennett, two wrongfully recognized suspects within the 1989 killing of Carol Stuart, NBC Information experiences. Stuart’s husband had claimed she was shot throughout an tried carjacking by a Black gunman. Nevertheless it was later decided that he orchestrated the homicide after leaving a birthing class.

Bennett will obtain $100,000, whereas Swanson will obtain $50,000. The case prompted a police crackdown in a predominantly Black neighborhood and intensified racial tensions within the metropolis.
