The plane landed safely at Delhi, and all passengers and crew disembarked. Nevertheless, the Ministry of Civil Aviation sought a report on the incident later.

Based on what sources advised CNN-News18, the plane developed a “critical” engine-related drawback, which prompted the crew to abort the onward journey and return to Delhi as a precautionary measure.

Confirming the incident, an Air India spokesperson mentioned the choice to show again was taken in accordance with commonplace working procedures.

“The crew working flight AI887 from Delhi to Mumbai on 22 December determined to return to Delhi shortly after take-off on account of a technical difficulty as per commonplace working process,” the spokesperson mentioned.

“The plane landed safely at Delhi, and the passengers and crew have disembarked,” they added.

The airline expressed remorse over the disruption induced to passengers.

“Air India sincerely regrets the inconvenience induced on account of this unexpected state of affairs. The plane is present process the mandatory checks,” the spokesperson added.

The airline additionally mentioned its floor workforce in Delhi was offering instant help to affected passengers and that different preparations had been made to fly them to Mumbai shortly.

Later, the Ministry of Civil Aviation acknowledged the incident and mentioned it sought an in depth report from Air India, whereas directing the Directorate Normal of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to conduct a probe.
