A British Transport Police (BTP) officer has been discovered responsible of assaulting a 15-year-old lady after placing her in a headlock whereas detaining her at a railway station.

Computer Adrian Younger, who’s connected to the London Overground Tasking Staff, was convicted following a trial at Westminster Magistrates’ Court docket.

The 48-year-old can be sentenced on November 13.

An Unbiased Workplace for Police Conduct (IOPC) spokesman stated: “The courtroom heard that on September 22, 2024, BTP officers responded to a request for help from railway workers after a toddler pushed their means via ticket obstacles at Camden Street overground station.

“After Computer Younger approached the kid, CCTV footage confirmed the officer restraining her by inserting her in a headlock.

“The kid remained in a headlock for about 30 seconds earlier than Computer Younger pushed her again via the ticket barrier and positioned his hand round her throat whereas pushing her up towards a ticket machine.

“Computer Younger handcuffed and arrested the kid, and he or she was later de-arrested on the scene.”

Emily Barry, IOPC director, stated: “All law enforcement officials are educated to make use of drive that’s mandatory, proportionate and cheap within the circumstances.

“On this event, there was no lawful purpose for the drive utilized by Computer Younger, which may have resulted in severe accidents, notably as he was coping with a toddler who was significantly smaller than him.
