The supervisor of an early studying centre in Flat Bush, south-east Auckland, says she spent this Monday morning sitting subsequent to the entrance door, as close by police descended on the suburb in search of a gunman.
The supervisor, who doesn’t need to be named, went to work as standard simply earlier than 7am on October 6, when the doorways opened on the centre.
Two hours later, she acquired a name from her husband who works at a close-by college to say it had gone into lockdown.
“He mentioned the Ministry of Schooling had known as the college and so he instructed me to shut all of the doorways and home windows and go into lockdown too,” she says.
The ministry contacted the early studying centre quickly after.
“I closed the door, and nobody was allowed in or out,” she says.
A brief distance away, police had cordoned off Chapel Highway, between Baverstock Highway and Stancombe Highway in Flat Bush, after a member of the general public shot an officer.
