Plumes of thick black smoke billowed into the air Sunday afternoon as firefighters struggled to comprise a big industrial hearth at a tire recycling facility in South Gate.
The Los Angeles County Fireplace Division stated in a publish on X that it responded at 2:40 p.m. to a report of a fireplace on the facility within the 11800 block of Industrial Avenue. Upon arrival, crews took a defensive place.

County Supervisor Janice Hahn stated a shelter-in-place order had been issued for the encompassing group and urged folks to remain indoors with their pets and preserve the doorways and home windows closed, in a publish on X.
The South Gate Police Division requested residents to keep away from the areas of Gardendale and Industrial streets, and famous that first responders from the Los Angeles County Fireplace Division and the South Gate Police Division had been on the scene.
