Aquaculture permits spanning 20 hectares of the Hauraki Gulf have been granted to a charity hoping to rebuild the area’s decimated scallop inhabitants by farming the prized shellfish.
Earlier this month the Ministry of Major Industries authorised aquaculture consents for 20 areas to be operated by Ocean Regeneration Aotearoa.
