USDA suspends ‘federal financial awards’ for Minnesota, citing ‘massive fraud’

Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins has introduced that her company is “suspending federal monetary awards” to Minnesota and Minneapolis, citing proof of “fraud” discovered by the Trump administration.

Rollins printed a letter Friday addressed to Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, asserting that “all lively awards and any future awards from USDA to the State of Minnesota and the Metropolis of Minneapolis, at present totaling over $129.18 million.”

She additionally instructed Minnesota officers to “present the USDA with cost justifications for all federal greenback expenditures from January 20, 2025, to the current” inside 30 days.

It’s unclear which packages can be impacted by this suspension. The Unbiased has contacted the USDA for extra info.

Rollins cited “fraud” in Minnesota and Minneapolis in a social media put up asserting the choice, writing that “these in cost have ZERO plan to repair. it.” Rollins wrote in her letter that “quite a few non-profits and companies have defrauded the federal authorities” whereas Walz and Frey have been in workplace.

Rollins cited the Feeding Our Future fraud scandal, which first emerged in 2022. Since then, dozens of individuals have been convicted in reference to the scandal, which prosecutors stated concerned the theft of tens of millions of {dollars} from a federal program designed to feed kids throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
