Police are but to say whether or not the motion is linked to the theft of a courier van later discovered deserted close to Outram.
The courier van, believed to belong to a contractor for NZ Publish, was stolen after it was ‘‘left unattended’’ in Outram, Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond, of Dunedin, stated.
Whereas travelling to research the stolen van, officers noticed a close-by Subaru abruptly take ‘‘evasive motion to get away from police’’.
Enquiries revealed the Subaru had been stolen from Milton in a single day, Snr Sgt Bond stated.
Dunedin social media pages have been flooded with feedback in regards to the police presence together with one which stated a white Subaru “nearly took me out whereas cops have been swarming Corstorphine”.
It was unknown whether or not any parcels have been stolen from the van, a police spokeswoman stated.
NZ Publish has been approached for remark.
