Police have confirmed a number of fatalities on the scene of a home hearth in Sanson on Saturday afternoon.
RNZ understands three youngsters have been lacking after the fireplace, and a person and little one are among the many useless.
Emergency providers have been referred to as to the property southwest of the city about 2.30pm.
Fireplace and Emergency NZ have now handed the scene to police, who will begin an investigation into the circumstances of the fireplace, mentioned Manawatū Space Commander Inspector Ross Grantham.
Police confirmed they weren’t searching for anybody else in relation to the fireplace.
State Freeway 1 was anticipated to re-open by about 8pm Saturday.
A police scene guard will stay in place in a single day, with officers to return on Sunday morning.
Flames engulfed the house, closing the freeway between Phillips St and Speedy Rd.
Fireplace and Emergency mentioned the fireplace was now extinguished.
