Kazakhstan sees major growth in payment card transaction volume

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 8. In December
2025, the overall worth of transactions utilizing fee playing cards issued by
Kazakhstani banks reached 21.1 trillion tenge ($42.11 billion),
with a complete of 1.3 billion transactions.

Knowledge obtained by Development from the Nationwide Financial institution of Kazakhstan exhibits that
the variety of cashless transactions rose by 5.5% in comparison with
December 2024, reaching 1.2 billion operations. The worth of those
cashless funds grew by 5.8%, totaling 18.4 trillion tenge
($36.72 billion).

In December 2025, cardholders carried out 20.5 million money
withdrawal transactions, totaling 2.6 trillion tenge ($5.19
billion). This represents a 1.3% decline within the variety of
withdrawals, whereas the worth of those transactions noticed a rise
of 4.5% in comparison with the identical interval in 2024.

The vast majority of cashless transactions have been carried out through
web and cell banking, accounting for 79.7% of the overall
variety of transactions and 89.8% of the overall transaction quantity.
Level-of-sale (POS) terminals, in distinction, represented 20.2% of
the transaction rely. Money withdrawals have been predominantly executed
by ATMs, which processed 98.3% of the overall withdrawal
operations.
